Love for a child is a feeling everybody has but sometimes it may not be easy to get pregnant right away. Millions of people struggle with infertility throughout the world. If you have been trying to conceive for a year with no luck, your doctor will recommend a series of tests and treatments to help the couple conceive.

There are many women who get pregnant right away even when they may not be even trying to get pregnant but for the ones who are having a problem in conceiving, there are a few things to watch which can boost your chances of getting pregnant sooner.

Keep Track of Ovulation- Conception begins with ovulation.Ovulation is the release of eggs by the ovaries. It’s timing may differ in every woman but it usually occurs on the 14th day of menstrual cycle. It’s also the best time to conceive since the chances are higher than any other time.

So how can a woman tell when she is ovulating?

Calculating a woman’s ovulating period can be a pretty daunting task. If a woman has a 28 day cycle, 14th day after her last menstrual cycle began she will be most fertile. In can be complicated if a woman has irregular menstrual cycles.

There are ovulation screening kits available in the market which can test the urine for increased levels of hormone prior to ovulation. The best part about them is that they can tell you when you are most fertile and also alert you before ovulation starts. You must follow the instructions to get the best results. These kits are expensive and may cost you up to $50.

* Frequent unprotected sex as often as two to three times a week can also increase your chances of conceiving. This will help in the fertilization to occur around the time when you are ovulating.

* Eat a balanced healthy and nutritious diet so you can maintain a normal weight. Take multivitamins to avoid any deficiency of vitamins in the body. Folic acid or vitamin B-9 is important for the growth of the baby. Ask your doctor for pre-natal vitamins so you can start taking them before you get pregnant.

*Avoid smoking and alcohol while trying to conceive and throughout pregnancy.Tobacco prevents sperm from fertilizing the egg by altering cervical mucous. Ask your doctor for ways to help you quit smoking.
