Fuel Efficient Vehicles

Since the price of a gas has risen, more and more people are hurting since it’s crimping their household budget. There is more need now for fuel efficient vehicles than ever before.

If you are in the market to buy an new car, you may want to check the fuel economy numbers. Fuel economy numbers are posted on the window stickers of new cars. Study shows that the average driver only recieves 75% or so of the mileage figures which are posted on the window sticker. You can check the numbers among various makes and models and compare them so you can make a better and more informed decision when buying a car that about how many MPG the vehicle will get.

* Hybrids: The gas electric hybrid vehicles are more expensive than the ones which are not. The reason is that the average miles per gallon that the hybrids offer are between 45-55. This is great if you want to spend less money on the gas as hybrids can travel more with a full tank of fuel than regular cars and they come with extended warranties as well.

Honda hybrid is considered the most fuel efficient car in United States. It offers 60 mpg in city driving and 66 mpg in highway driving. It has a 1.0 gas engine matted to an electric motor. The only drawback with this car is that it has a cramped interior.

There is another fuel efficient and mid-size car and that is Toyota Prius Hybrid. It offers 60 mpg gallon city and 51 mpg highway and can carry 5 people and their gear. It can generate 110 horse power  from it’s gasoline engine and electric motor. Other hybrid car is Honda Civic Hybrid which offers 49 mpg city and 51 mpg highway. Most fuel efficient large car is Hyundai Sonata offering 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. Pontiac Vibe and Toyot Matrix are considered the most fuel efficient station wagons.

* Diesel Efficiency: They are another fuel efficient option. Diesel powered vehicles are known for getting extra mileage for every gallon of fuel and they offer better torque than gasoline engines. They generally cost less than hybrids.

Volkswagon diesel  offers 37 mpg city and 41 mpg highway. The Volkswagon Beetle Diesel is ahead in the sub-compact hybrids. With 100 HP the beetle diesel may not sound that powerful but 177-lp foot of torque can beat other cars in the same class.
